Description

This image shows a member of the Student Government Association at Appalachian State University (1967-current) standing on a platform speaking to an audience at Sanford Mall in the 1970s. Welborn Hall, built 1925, can be seen in the background. Founded in 1939-1940 as the Student Council, the Student Government Association serves as the students' only official voice to the Appalachian administration. The Student Senate is the main governing body and is composed of elected on and off campus students.
