This image shows President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) handing a silver cup to a man as an award for placing in a jogging contest at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the late 1960s. The entrance to Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, and other attendees can be seen in the background. The man on the far right is Dr. Wiley Smith.
