Student Council Dance, 1966, photo 10

This image shows the exterior of Sanford Mall and Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, after dark during a dance sponsored by the Student Council held in Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in September 1966. Cars can be seen parked along Appalachian Street in front of the gym. The dance was held to welcome new and returning students at Appalachian State and included a performance by the dance group the Fabulous Five. The Student Council was formed in 1939-1940 and was the forerunner to the Student Government Association.
