This image shows a hang glider landing in a field after competing in the U. S. Hang Gliding Championships held at Grandfather Mountain near Linville, North Carolina, in the 1970s. Two other people can be seen approaching the glider in the foreground and background. The event was sponsored by the United States Hang Gliding Association, a non-profit organization that supported non-motorized, foot-launched hang gliding.
