Description
This image shows the Mountaineer Playhouse performing a scene from the play "The Curse of the Aching Heart" at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in June 1973. Two actors can be seen standing on a stage, raising their left arms, while a third swoons in the center. The Mountaineer Playhouse was a community theatre company established in the summer of 1971 by Professor Ed Pilkington in the Department of Speech and Theatre. Working primarily out of Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938, the group performed summer productions using local professional actors and student interns.
