That picture, which I've stumbled on, is of me and my castmates. I played Captain Bluntschli, and I'm kissing the hand of Deborah Bleckley (playing Raina). Looking on is Raymond Damiano (as Petkoff), and Don Lamont (as Sergius). Ray, Don and I came up from Miami, FL to do that and 3 other plays. We lived in dorms, acted in all the plays, and built all the sets. All for $35 per week. The other 8 actor/techs in the company were from NC, except Debbie from SC. I was 18 that summer. What a memory! Now I have to see if there are other photos in this archive from that season.

Description

This image shows the Mountaineer Playhouse performing the play "Arms and the Man" at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in July 1975. Students and actors in costume can be seen standing around a stage, with a man on the left kissing a woman's hand. The Mountaineer Playhouse was a community theatre company established in the summer of 1971 by Professor Ed Pilkington in the Department of Speech and Theatre. Working primarily out of Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938, the group performed summer productions using local professional actors and student interns.
