This image shows a group of students standing on bleachers singing during the Honors Program award ceremony in Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1971. Some members of the audience can be seen in the foreground. The man in the center forefront, who is either sleeping or contemplating his shoe, is Dr. M.W. Disbrow (Music faculty). The Honors Program is an academic and residential community for high achieving students and is open to freshmen, transfer students, and current students at Appalachian State.
