This image shows a student receiving an award from Dr. Ernest Lane (Mathematics faculty) at the Honors Program award ceremony in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in April 1981. Seated on the left is Dr. Harvey Durham, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Next to him is Dr. William C. Strickland, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The Honors Program is an academic and residential community for high achieving students and is open to freshmen, transfer students, and current students at Appalachian State.
