Description

This image shows President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) speaking at an awards ceremony held by the Honors Program in Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the late 1960s. Other speakers and award recipients can be seen sitting in the background. The Honors Program is an academic and residential community for high achieving students and is open to freshmen, transfer students, and current students at Appalachian State.
