This image shows a float in the Appalachian State University (1967-current) Homecoming parade down King Street in Boone, NC, in October 1972. Students can be seen standing on a float, with a large box reading, "A Suitcase University." Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen.
