This image shows part of the Appalachian State University (1967-current) Homecoming parade moving down King Street in Boone, NC, in October 1971. Students can be seen standing on a car while a band marches in the background. Onlookers and businesses can be seen on the left and right. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen.
