This image shows part of the Appalachian State University (1967-current) Homecoming parade down King Street in Boone, NC, in October 1972. Three women can be seen carrying wooden rifles and the Appalettes can be seen in the background. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen.
