This image shows former President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) raising his hands while getting into a car after attending a tribute at the Homecoming game at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1969. Two other men can be seen in the background. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen. Standing behind President Plemmons is Mr. James Whittington.
