This image shows the audience sitting in bleachers watching the Homecoming football game at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on October 23, 1965. A group of children can be seen sitting in the front row. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen. Upper left hand corner is Mr. Watkins, wrestling coach. Next to him wearing glasses and a hat is Dr. Golden Thaddeus Buckland (mathematics faculty). The woman with dark glasses seated next to Dr. Buckland is his wife, Grace.
