Description

This image shows a float being decorated for use in the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) Homecoming Parade in October 1964. People can be seen standing around a float with a goal post and a wire model of a football player. Another float, with "Spirit of Apps Makes Soup of Indians" written on the side, can be seen on the left. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen. The campus police officer standing in the middle of the picture is Mr. Raleigh Cottrell.
