Theater Performance, circa 1985

This image shows a performance by students in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the Valborg Theater in Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1980s. Two students wearing decorated boxes can be seen standing over a third student in a baseball cap. The Department of Theatre and Dance sponsors the University Theatre which produces several plays a year and holds auditions for the season that are open to all students. The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
