Description

This image shows a geography student pointing at a landmass on a model of the Earth created by the Department of Geography and Community Planning at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1986. The Department of Geography and Community Planning offers BA degrees in Geography and BS degrees in Community Planning, with courses in geographic techniques, quantitative methods, urban and political geography, land use, and regional planning. The model Earth was completed in late 1975 and is currently located in the lower level staircase of the first Belk Library, built 1968. This image appears in the 1987 Rhododendron (p. 387). Standing on the far left is Dr. William Imperatore, Department of Geography.
