Title

BACCHUS, 1986, photo 3

Description

This image shows Student Body President Todd Campbell being given a sobriety test by Boone Police Lieutenant Ron Kerley outside during the annual BACCHUS event at Appalachian State University (1967-current) on October 23, 1986. The Boost Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students (BACCHUS) was an Appalachian State student organization and provided beer for students to drink over a three hour period. Students were given periodic sobriety tests by the Boone Police Department to demonstrate the way alcohol impairs an individual. This image appears in the 1987 Rhododendron (p. 22).
