Description

This image shows Chief Arnold Richardson of the Haliwasaponi tribe, speaking on Native stereotypes in Edwin Duncan Hall, built 1965, the Native American Festival at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1986. A television and a VCR can be seen on the right. Richardson also discussed his involvement in the occupation of Alcatraz Island from November 1969-June 1971. The Festival was sponsored by the ASU Native American Council and took place on October 22-23, 1986. This image appears in the 1987 Rhododendron (p. 62).
