This image shows student Joel Biggerstaff receiving the Alpha Chi Scholarship at an awards ceremony held by the Honors Program in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1977-78. The Honors Program is an academic and residential community for high achieving students and is open to freshmen, transfer students, and current students at Appalachian State. Presenting the award is Dr. Don Sink, Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Seen seated at the end of the table is Chancellor Herbert Wey.
