This image shows President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) speaking at an awards banquet for the Cannon Music Camp in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in August 1969. Mrs. Plemmons can be seen sitting in the foreground on the left. The awards to be distributed can be seen on the table. The Cannon Music Camp began in 1969 and focused providing intensive group and individual training in performance and music theory. Recitals and concerts are performed regularly throughout the summer. Mrs. Plemmons‘ first name is Bebe. The women seated on the right are Mrs. Lois Isley wearing a black dress and wife of Dr. Charles Isley, Professor in the Department of Music, and Mrs. Elsie Erneston wearing a white dress and wife of Dr. Nicholas Erneston, Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts.
