Description

This image shows Jairy Hunter presenting the Suggestion Committee Award to Frank Shropshire during an SEANC meeting in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1977. The State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) started in 1940 to provide representation for state employees in the North Carolina General Assembly, and held its first convention in 1947. The organization promoted increased salaries, retirement plans, health plans, and the addition of the Friday after Thanksgiving as an employee holiday. Seen in the background and wearing glasses is Mr. Ned Trivette, Vice Chancellor for Business Affair.
