Description

This image shows the Appalachian State University (1967-current) employees who were SEANC members in the early 1970s. They are seen sitting in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925. The State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) started in 1940 to provide representation for state employees in the North Carolina General Assembly, and held its first convention in 1947. The organization promoted increased salaries, retirement plans, health plans, and the addition of the Friday after Thanksgiving as an employee holiday.
