Description

This image shows two staff members of the Computer Center at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in June 1980. The Computer Center began in 1968 and offered computing support for administrative offices and a laboratory for computer science students. By 1980, it housed a UNIVAC Series 90/80 with 2000KB of memory, two printers, and 54 communication ports. It also operated a remote computer lab in Whitener Hall with 16 terminals, six keypunches, two slow speed printers, and a remote job entry station. The man is Dr. Tom Bohannon, Director of the Office of Institutional Research.
