This image shows some of the damage to the parking lot south of the Service Annex, built 1949 (not shown), at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1973. Cars can be seen collapsed into the Creek. On May 28, 1973, the Kraut Creek on the southern end of campus flooded after 1.6 inches of rainfall and caused thousands of dollars of property damage, primarily cars parked in lots north of Rivers Street.
