Title

AppalCART, 1986, photo 1

Description

This image shows the rear of an AppalCART bus driving south by Conrad Stadium, built 1962 and rebuilt 1979, during a snowstorm at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1986-87. Skis can be seen attached to the back and side of the bus. Snow-covered cars can be seen on the left, and two students can be seen standing on the right. The AppalCART served as a shuttle bus service for the Appalachian State campus since 1980. It expanded to the town of Boone in September 1981, after the Appalachian shuttle service joined with the Watauga County Transportation Authority to create a bus service for students and citizens of Boone, NC. This image appears in the 1987 Rhododendron (p. 390).
