Description

This image shows some attendees of a student forum held by the Student Government Association held at Sanford Mall at Appalachian State University (1967-current) on May 14, 1970. Students can be seen standing or sitting around Sanford Mall, and L. S. Dougherty Hall, built 1962, is visible in the background. The event was attended by approximately eight hundred people, and people spoke on Vietnam, Richard Nixon, Cambodia, the Kent State shootings, student protests, and government intervention. Students can be seen holding protest signs reading, "Up the ass of the ruling class,."Death is forever,."Soul power,."Children shouldn't play with guns!."Out of Cambodia now," and "Bums for peace."
