Title

Campus Scenes, circa 1975, bottles

Description

This image shows a collection of liquor bottles arranged on the windowsill of a campus dormitory at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. The dormitory is either Justice Hall or East Hall, both built in 1952. In the 1970s, students were allowed to possess and consume alcoholic beverages primarily in their dormitory rooms, but were prohibited from possessing open containers in residence hall lobbies, other university buildings, athletic events, and the campus at large. Students between the ages of 18-21 were allowed beer and wine containing less than 14% alcohol.
