This image shows Sarah Rebekah Rivers, 1947 alumnus and recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Alumni Association at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in September 1973. The Alumni Association started in 1934 and met at least once a year during Homecoming for reunions, association business, and officer elections. The Distinguished Alumni Award is awarded annually to alumni who have attained professional distinction and achieved state, regional, national, or international recognition.
