Description

This image shows Bob Snead, vice-chancellor of the Office of Public Affairs, standing with a member of the Alumni Association at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in front of the B. B. Dougherty Administration Building, built 1968, in July 1973. Snead is holding a certificate reading, "United States Steel Incentive Award Alumni Giving for distinguished achievement in the development of alumni support, Appalachian State University. A program sponsored by the United States Steel Foundation and administered by the American Alumni Council, July 1973." The man on the left is seen holding a metal trophy. The Alumni Association started in 1934 and met at least once a year during Homecoming for reunions, association business, and officer elections. Standing on the left is Fred Robinette.
