Description

This image shows President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) greeting guests for the President's Luncheon, held in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on May 25, 1958. Plemmons is seen shaking hands with a man, while speaking with four other guests in the entryway of Welborn Hall. The luncheon was held before spring commencement, and included commencement guests, Appalachian State faculty and administration. Standing on the far right is Ms. Maxie Edmiston, Dean of Women. The man to the left of President Plemmons is Mr. Herman Eggers, Registrar.
