This image shows some attendees sitting in an auditorium during a session of the Model United Nations Conference at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1979. The signs by the door read, "Center for Teacher Education, Secondary Education" and "RM. 267 Social and Humanitarian Committee." The Model United Nations Conference is sponsored annually by the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice and the International Relations Association at Appalachian State. It is designed to involve high school students with international political events. The Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice is in the College of Arts and Sciences and offers a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, a pre-professional Legal Studies major, and a graduate program leading to Master of Arts in Political Science, Master of Public Administration, and Master of Science in Criminal Justice & Criminology degrees.
