This image shows a woman being studied while running on a tread mill in the Department of Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1981. The Department of Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts, and offers degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Health Promotions, Physical Education and Recreation Management. The Physical Education program also includes programs for teaching physical education to the disabled and rehabilitation activities for athletic injuries. The woman on the treadmill is Dr. Jan Watson, Field Hockey Coach and Professor of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. The man is Dr. Vaughn Christian, Soccer Coach and Associate Professor of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
