Military Science Faculty, photo 1

This image shows the faculty of the Department of Military Science at Appalachian State University (1967-current) standing in full dress uniforms in the 1970s. The Department began in the fall of 1969 and houses the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC). It is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts and offers two-year programs in leadership and military training with no obligation of future military service, and an additional two-year program that results in a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve or the Army National Guard. The man on the far right on the back row is Captain Richard Parrott.
