Description

This image shows a woman handing a teacup to an officer during an event held by the Department of Military Science at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1969. Other military officers can be seen in the background. The Department began in the fall of 1969 and houses the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC). It is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts and offers two-year programs in leadership and military training with no obligation of future military service, and an additional two-year program that results in a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve or the Army National Guard.
