Description

This image shows two students checking spreadsheet information printing out of a teletype machine for a course in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. An acoustically coupled modem can be seen on the right. The Department of Mathematic Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science degree program with concentrations in applied mathematics, general mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics. The graduate program leads to Master of Science degrees in mathematics or mathematics education with teacher certification.
