Commencement, 1977, addresses, photo 6

This image shows one of the commencement speakers giving a speech at the commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1977. Commencement was held at the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968. Two other commencement speakers are visible in the background, and the wall reads, "Furman" with a painting of their mascot, a knight on a horse, and "VMI" with a painting of their kangaroo mascot.
