Title
Appalachian Elementary School, buildings
Description
This image shows an aerial view from the south of the Education Building, built 1925, and Whitener Hall, built 1954, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Both buildings served as home for Appalachian Elementary School, otherwise known as the Demonstration Elementary School, where Watauga County elementary school students would be taught by Appalachian State teachers and students. The school existed from the mid-1920s until 1975. First built as Boone Grade School, the Education Building was the first building for Appalachian Elementary School until 1954, when Whitener Hall was completed. The Education Building was demolished in the late 1960s, and Whitener was demolished in 2006.
