Description

This image shows Edwin Dougherty and Annie Dougherty Rufty with Chancellor Herbert Walter Wey (1969-1979) on November 11, 1975. The Dougherty family was donating the chest in the background to the Department of Home Economics in the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State University (1967-current). The Department of Home Economics is now the Family and Consumer Sciences Department and provides graduate and undergraduate programs in child development, nutrition, apparel and textiles, and family and consumer sciences. It is housed in Lillie Shull Dougherty Hall, built 1962.
