This image shows a class of students watching as two students plays volleyball in Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968, during a class in the Department of Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. Professor E. B. Degroat can be seen in middle of the image. The Department of Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts, and offers degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Health Promotions, Physical Education and Recreation Management.
