This image shows O. L. Brown, former professor of Industrial Arts, donating a copy of his biography of Appalachian State founder and President Emeritus B. B. Dougherty to the Appalachian Collection in D. D. Dougherty Library, built 1935, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the early 1970s. Oscar Lester Brown wrote "Blanford Barnard Dougherty, a man to match his mountains" in 1963. He was a graduate of Appalachian Training School (1903-1925) and son-in-law of B. B. Dougherty. The W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection is a repository for materials related to the Southern uplands, with strengths in the social sciences, regional history, folklore, music, religion, genealogy, fiction, and African and Native Appalachia. The man on the right receiving the book is Dr. George Antone, Professor and Chairman of the Department of History.
