This image shows six students in the Department of Geography and Community Planning at Appalachian State University (1967-current) standing outside a building entrance in the 1970s. The Department of Geography and Community Planning offers BA degrees in Geography and BS degrees in Community Planning, with courses in geographic techniques, quantitative methods, urban and political geography, land use, and regional planning. The man on the left is Dr. Lee Nicholls, Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Geography.
