This image shows four speakers of an event held by the Department of Foreign Languages in the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University (1967-current) sitting on a stage in 1975. Professor J. R. Prince and Cratis Williams, assistant to the Chancellor, are seen sitting on the right. Programs in the Department of Foreign Languages focus on teaching students both the language and culture of a region, and includes courses in French, Spanish, Chinese, German, Arabic, Japanese, Latin, and Russian, as well as offering classes for international business and economics majors in the College of Business. The man second from the left is Mr. Ralph Winkler, member of the Board of Trustees.
