This image shows Professor Graydon Eggers, chairman of the Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences, standing behind a table during a dinner at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1962. President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) can be seen sitting in the background. The Department of English focused on written and oral competency in the English language and literature. It is located in the College of Arts and Sciences. To Dr. Eggers left is Ms. Daisy Eggers, his wife and also Professor of English. To her left is Dr. Plemmons.
