Description

This image shows three students sitting on the ground while working to build a windmill in Valle Crucis, NC, as part of the Earth Studies program at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in June 1980. The Earth Studies program in the General College existed from 1979 until 1981. It is now the Appropriate Technology program in the Department of Technology in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. It focused on developing eco-friendly fuel and sustainable energy research projects, and provided aid for farmers requesting assistance with solar greenhouses, wind energy and methane production.
