This image shows a student mixing paint on a pallet on a table in an art class taught in the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1985-86. Jars of cleaning fluid, books, and paintings are also on the table. The Department of Art includes programs for commercial artists, art teachers, art historians, and graphic designers. Exhibits of student and faculty work are shown in Wey Hall, built 1976, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, and the Catherine Smith Gallery. This image appears in the 1986 Rhododendron (p. 252).
