Description

This image shows three people sitting in a helicopter resting in Red Lackey Field at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the early 1970s. Sitting on the left is Assistant Professor William Gunthrie of the Department of Economics in the College of Business. The smokestack, demolished in 1973, is visible in the background. Founders Hall, built 1932, and Sanford Hall, built 1969, are visible on the right. Red Lackey Field was a baseball field originally located on the current location of the Holmes Convocation Center, built 2000.
