Description

This image shows the Marching Band practicing in a field at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. Students can be seen standing in formation while playing instruments on a field next to tennis courts. The Marching Band was originally started by Professor Gordon Nash in 1939 and was managed by the Department of Music. They performed routinely at parades and athletic events during the academic year.
